Windchill Warning & Precautions

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning from 10 am Friday to 1 pm Saturday.

Games are still on as scheduled, but with temperatures and the wind chill in the negatives, we remind all players that there is a strong risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Dress appropriately, cover exposed skin, bring dry clothing between games, and watch out for your teammates and opponents!

Cold weather guidelines and precautions:

  • NO exposed skin, frostbite could start to set in within minutes of any direct exposure.

  • Proper layering, wool, no cotton and keep hydrated.

  • Ensure that all clothing is DRY before going out on the ice.  Wet gloves, socks, and skates will dramatically compound the potential for frostbite.

  • Arrive as close to your the scheduled game as close as possible and leave immediately after the end of your games. Minimizing ice time is essential.

  • Drink warm liquids, bring a Thermos if needed

  • Use of hand, feet, and body warmers is suggested

We have emergency services on-site to assist and support those who need it. Shuttles will be running on a continuous loop from Tournament Village to Event Parking Lots.

We ask that you be a good teammate and keep an eye on each other. Facial exposure is hard to detect in such extreme cold.  If you see anyone with white/grey-looking skin, have them cover it and get to a warm environment!

If you or your team are not able to make your scheduled game, please email info@pondhockeyclassic.com so we can alert your opposing team.
