January 26, 2012 - Everything you need to know about the up coming NEPHC...
Change of Site
Due to the unseasonably warm winter we have experienced, Lake Winnipesaukee has not frozen to a level that is safe for us to host this event. We have worked hard the last few weeks to put into place a back up site. With tournament cancelling and postponing all over the country we have done everything in our power to avoid the same fate. We are excited to announce that the 2012 NEPHC will be hosted this year on Lake Waukewan in Meredith, NH. Lake Waukewan is a great back up site and has sufficient ice for us to host this event. It is located a ¼ mile from our traditional site on Meredith Bay but does pose a number of wrinkles which we are going to need everyone’s cooperation on.
No On-Site Parking
Our tournament site on Lake Waukewan does NOT have any on site parking. This means that all participants, spectators and volunteers will have to be shuttled to the site from auxiliary parking lots. We have set up parking lots and shuttle service pick ups around Meredith which ALL participants, spectators and volunteers will have to use to get down to the site.
Event Parking and Shuttle Service will be at 3 locations around town. The first Location is Hart’s Turkey Farm and Laconia Harley Davidson on Rte 3 in Meredith. Shuttle will pick up at Hart’s Turkey Farm. The second location is Chase House Inn (PHC Tournament Headquarters). This location is for participants staying at the Inns and Spa at Mill Falls or participants parking in public lots in and around downtown Meredith. The third lot is at Prescott Park, which is about a 1/8 of a mile north of the intersection of Rte 3 and Rte 25 (Bootleggers/Lago Intersection) on the right. Parking Maps will be on the website and handed out at Player Check In. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE TO THE TOURNAMENT SITE, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVENT PARKING!
Due to the change of location we are asking all teams to plan ahead and follow the steps we have put in place. Everything will run smoothly if our policies and guidelines are followed. Please arrive at one of the designated shuttle service pick up locations at least 45 minutes to an hour before your game time. Shuttles will run on a continuous loop throughout the day and should arrive every 15-20 minutes.
Under a Microscope
As already stated we have done everything in our power to make sure this event happens and doesn’t fall to the similar fate of so many events in North America. The site of this year’s event is a very special lake to the town’s people of Meredith and the State of NH. Lake Waukewan is the town’s water supply. This means there are a large number of State rules and regulations, which need to be followed by EVERYONE. This is one of those situations where one action by one individual can ruin this event for everyone. We need everyone to follow the rules and regulations that are put in place. No fires, No cars/trucks, No expending bodily fluids and no trash can be left on the ice. This event is under the watchful eye of a number of organizations and groups so we ask for your cooperation while on the ice.
On the Ice Verse On the Land
With the number of rules and regulations we are asked to abide by we have chosen to put as little as possible on the ice. This year on the ice you will only find Rink signage, Hay Bales at rinks and Trash/Recycling receptacles. Everything else will be located on land in Tournament Village across the street. Tournament Village will consist of player locker room tents (yes, you will have to put your skates on at the rinks), Bauer, Earthtec, Preferred Rentals, and the Common Man Concession Tent. Tournament Village will have an Olympic feel with lots of great stuff going on.
To stay with our commitment to run a green event we are again going to do electronic waivers. To access the electronic waiver please click here. Team Captains please forward to all of your participants and have them sign by Tuesday January 31st. This will expedite Player Check In. All Players who do not submit an electronic waiver will have to do so at Player Check In.
The 2012 NEPHC tournament schedule has been posted please click here. Teams please be sure to find your team and game times so you know when you are playing. Remember teams must arrive at a shuttle service station 45 minutes to an hour before your game time to ensure making it to your game on time.
